Australia’s oil and gas industries to improve workforce working conditions

Australia has a social security system and a culture of prevention and occupational safety and health well above the average of the industrialized countries of the world.

As an example, the Australian Government has a free labor advocacy service that attends and manages claims for occupational accidents or occupational diseases of those affected.

Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012–2022, presented by the Government of Australia, reinforces this statement and has committed to the citizens to achieve by 2022 the minimum objectives such as:

    – 20% reduction in fatal workplace accidents.

    – 30% reduction in the absenteeism rate with absence of one week or more.

    – 30% reduction in the rate of absenteeism due to MSD with absence of one week or more.

Oil&Gas industry

Australia has developed one of the strongest natural gas industries in the world. The strong expansion of the LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) industry has caused Australia’s oil and gas workforce to increase more than double in the past decade. Workers from this industries are also among the highest qualified in the country, with 44% employed in high-skill occupations.

Oil and gas sites are usually found at the most dangerous and remote locations. For his reason the government is committed to promoting the Industry 4.0 sector by investing approximately $2.4 billion in growing Australia’s research, science and technology capabilities over the next 12 years.

IoT solutions, such as our NGD-One device, provide companies with remote monitoring of equipment and operations, no longer requiring individuals to go to a site without prior knowledge of the situation at hand. This will conclude in a reduction of the dangerousness at work, improved efficiency and better decision making..
